Staying Strong Tips for every Woman

Ida Keeling’s got my attention. She’s 102 years old and continues to set world records in the 100-meter dash. What will I be doing at 102? Don’t be surprised if I’m still around; My grandmother and great grandmother both lived into their 100s. One thing you can be sure of, I will be living as healthy and active as I am able.

Whether there is longevity in your heritage or not, when a healthy, active 102 talks, it’s worth listening. Here are some of the gems mentioned by Ida in interviews with Allure Magazine and Runner’s World.

Love it and take care of it.

It’s your body, so don’t abuse it! You’re supposed to love it, take care of it and do what’s best for it. Ida’s advice is to stay strong and do what you need to do, not what you want to do. For her that means a regular exercise routine, going to a strengthening class, doing squats while she cooks and lifting weights. She also naps when she needs to and stretches and massages her body.

Shame of you it you do this.

Shame on you if you give up.

Do what you can.

Ida’s not worried if she is slow as a caterpillar, she’s out there doing what she can. That’s strength. That’s feeling good about yourself and that’s doing what you can.

Here’s that interview with Allure Magazine and Ida.
